Software Engineering Delivery Manager (Contract)
Location: Remote (Must work EST hours)
Contract: 5-month W2 contract
Pay Rate: $50–$60/hour (DOE)
OverviewWe are supporting a large, enterprise healthcare organization in hiring a Software Engineering Manager to oversee and support a portfolio of back-end, front-end, and full-stack development teams, along with QA and QC resources.
This is a dotted-line leadership role focused on driving process efficiency, quality improvements, team utilization, and reporting
, while partnering closely with Agile teams and working within established prioritization frameworks.
The ideal candidate brings strong cross-functional leadership experience, a deep understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery, and the ability to balance operational oversight with strategic execution.
Key Responsibilities Team Oversight & Coordination- Oversee the design and execution of work across multiple development teams, ensuring strategic priorities are met and workflows are efficient and scalable.
- Align resource allocation with development timelines and business objectives.
- Partner closely with Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Architects, and Technical Leads to ensure delivery aligns with Agile and other SDLC methodologies.
- Serve as a point of contact for leadership on team capacity planning, utilization, performance, and operational needs.
- Ensure consistent adherence to SDLC frameworks and delivery standards.
- Identify and implement efficiencies across development workflows, Agile ceremonies, and cross-team collaboration.
- Drive process standardization to improve velocity, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance overall productivity.
- Work closely with QA and QC teams to ensure testing best practices and quality standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain accountability for solutions that deliver high-quality data and insights to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on team utilization, capacity, and workload distribution to support optimal resource allocation.
- Track and analyze development spend to ensure efficient use of resources and budget adherence.
- Provide leadership with regular reporting on development progress, risks, dependencies, and operational insights.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards, plans of record, and emerging technology initiatives, supporting funding and planning discussions as needed.
- Act as a liaison between development teams, product management, and senior leadership to ensure smooth execution of priorities.
- Partner with HR and people leaders to support hiring, onboarding, and career development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across business units to gather requirements and drive value in a matrixed organization.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, project management, or operations.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or people-management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, or cloud-based development environments.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement practices, software testing best practices, and SDLC optimization.
- Exposure to AI/ML-based development, MLOps, and automation initiatives.
- Experience evaluating and advocating for emerging technologies.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and how to support teams operating within these frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with process improvement, operational efficiency, and reporting tools.
- Hands-on or working knowledge of tools such as Jira, Git Hub, Confluence, and Clarity.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams including developers and QA/QC professionals.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to report on team performance, utilization, and spend.
- Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
