Port Drayage Dispatcher – Trucking & Logistics – New Jersey (Onsite)/NJ Ports, Container Transportation, Logistics About the Company

We are representing an established transportation and logistics provider with a strong presence across the New York and New Jersey market.

The business is looking to strengthen its trucking operation with an experienced dispatcher who understands the demands of port drayage and container transportation.

This is a hands-on dispatch position based in New Jersey
, specifically focused on port drayage operations across the NY/NJ port network
.

This is not an over-the-road trucking position. You will be coordinating local container movements between the ports, customers, warehouses, and other facilities while ensuring drivers and equipment are utilized efficiently.

The company is open to candidates at different experience levels, from someone with a couple of years of solid drayage experience through to a highly experienced dispatcher.

• Coordinate daily container drayage movements across the NY/NJ ports
• Dispatch drivers and manage daily pickup and delivery schedules
• Monitor container availability, appointments, and port activity
• Coordinate movements between ports, warehouses, terminals, and customer locations
• Communicate directly with drivers, customers, terminals, and internal operations teams
• Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or scheduling issues
• Manage changing priorities while keeping daily operations running efficiently
• Maintain accurate dispatch and shipment information within internal systems

• Minimum 2 years of trucking dispatch experience
• Direct experience handling port drayage operations is required
• Strong knowledge of the New York/New Jersey port market
• Experience coordinating container pickups and deliveries
• Comfortable communicating directly with drivers, terminals, and customers
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple movements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Local market knowledge and established drayage experience are highly valued
