Position SummaryThe Merchandising Manager is responsible for driving category growth and managing the full product development lifecycle for Walmart’s branded Kitchen, Tabletop, and Bath textile programs. This role combines strategic merchandising insight with hands‑on product development expertise, identifying market opportunities and translating them into innovative and cost‑effective product. The position requires strong collaboration with overseas vendor partners to ensure on‑trend, commercially viable assortments.
Key Responsibilities- Direct merchandising strategy and product development for Kitchen, Tabletop, and Bath textile programs specifically tailored for Walmart.
- Leverage competitive market analysis to identify assortment gaps and growth opportunities within Walmart’s home textile categories, aligned with consumer trends and retailer strategies.
- Develop and execute product concepts, color palettes, materials, and construction techniques that meet Walmart’s aesthetic, quality, and price requirements.
- Manage the product lifecycle from concept through production, ensuring timely sample delivery, costing accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with Walmart’s buying and product development teams to present product lines, review feedback, and refine assortments.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product innovation and pricing strategies.
- Partner with overseas vendors to develop innovative fabrications and techniques that enhance product differentiation.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and production schedules to meet cost and delivery goals.
- Ensure vendor compliance with Walmart’s ethical, social, and quality standards.
- Monitor material performance, production quality, and testing requirements through development and production stages.
- Work directly with internal design team on design and technical specifications.
- Support costing exercises and margin analysis.
- Manage sample tracking, approvals, and documentation for Walmart line reviews and product submissions.
- 7+ years of experience in product development or merchandising within home textiles;
Walmart account experience strongly preferred. - Strong knowledge of textile constructions, materials, and printing (kitchen towels, table linens, shower curtains, etc.).
- Proven ability to identify product and market opportunities and translate insights into successful product assortments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience managing retailer relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
