Position: School LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Elizabeth, New Jersey
Seeking an experienced LPN to provide dedicated 1:1 care for a student managing Type 1 diabetes in a school setting near Elizabeth, NJ. This contract opportunity runs from September 1, 2026, through June 23, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour work week. The role centers on using advanced technology-including the Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and Omnipod insulin pump-to support effective pattern recognition, timely interventions, and careful system monitoring.

Manual finger-stick checks will also be necessary when digital readings and physical symptoms differ, ensuring safety and accuracy for the student.

Required

Experience and Skills:

• Current and valid LPN or LVN licensure
• Experience in school or pediatric settings preferred
• Proficiency with diabetes care and monitoring technology (Dexcom and Omnipod strongly preferred)
• Strong assessment skills, especially in identifying discrepancies between device readings and physical symptoms
• Capable of performing manual glucose checks as needed
• Excellent communication to coordinate with families and school staff
• Organized and dependable, with a commitment to student safety

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily, onsite care to a student with Type 1 diabetes
• Operate and troubleshoot CGM and insulin pump devices
• Identify and respond to pattern changes, adjusting care as necessary
• Perform manual blood glucose checks when warranted
• Collaborate with educators, families, and medical professionals to ensure a safe and supportive environment
• Maintain clear documentation and ongoing communication regarding the student's regimen
