The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit is an 11-bed unit that provides specialized care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of hematological and oncologic disorders. Our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive family-centered care to these patients throughout their treatment journey including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood product transfusions, bone marrow transplantation, symptom management, and end-of-life care. As a center actively involved in clinical research, we offer patients access to innovative clinical trials while providing evidence-based, compassionate care that promotes the best possible outcomes.

Typical Day

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients

Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment

Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions

Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety

Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

Requirements

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, and APHON Chemotherapy Certification are required. 1-year previous Pediatric experience is required.

Previous Pediatric Oncology experience preferred.

An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am.
