Safety Supervisor

This role oversees safety operations and training within a petroleum recycling and oil transfer environment. The Safety Supervisor leads daily safety activities, ensures compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations, manages standard operating procedures, and supports onboarding and development of employees to maintain a clean, safe, and legally compliant operation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct daily safety meetings to reinforce safe work practices and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee safety programs related to DOT and oil transfer operations, ensuring all activities comply with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Support and conduct onboarding activities for new hires, introducing them to safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Train workers on safety topics, including OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and other critical safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with insurance companies regarding accidents, incidents, and claims, providing accurate documentation and follow-up.
  • Monitor and manage safety performance, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions to reduce risk and prevent incidents.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to employees on safe work practices and proper use of equipment and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs and materials, ensuring training content is current, relevant, and effective.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation using Microsoft Office and other company systems.
  • Work closely with leadership to support continuous improvement in safety culture and compliance.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated into daily workflows and project planning.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of safety experience, preferably in industrial, petroleum, or related environments.
  • Strong knowledge of safety management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety training and coaching employees on safe work practices.
  • Hands-on experience with OSHA safety requirements and regulations.
  • Proficiency in lockout/tagout safety procedures and training.
  • Experience working with DOT regulations and safety standards, particularly in oil transfer or transportation operations.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience working with insurance companies on accidents, including incident documentation and follow-up.
  • Proven supervision experience, including leading teams and reinforcing safety expectations.
  • Strong skills in training development and delivery for a diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting, documentation, and training materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in a petroleum recycling, environmental services, or industrial facility is highly beneficial.
