Employees may be detailed to any shift at any plant in the Raleigh District. The Keansburg position rotates every month with an assignment in Sayreville and covers plants in Keansburg and Little Silver. The Wyckoff position covers plants in Wyckoff, Paterson, and Fair Lawn.

• GS‑5:
  At least 52 weeks of specialized experience in consumer safety inspection (e.g., food inspector, public health inspector, quality inspection specialist) providing knowledge of regulated food commodities.
• GS‑7:
  In addition, at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑5, with independent performance of routine assignments.
• GS‑8:
  At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑7, including work under the Federal Meat, Poultry, and Egg Products Inspection Acts and basic SSOP/HACCP principles.
• GS‑9:
  At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑8, and experience at a more independent level, possibly including export refusal and temporary coverage at locations outside the duty station.
• Ability to collect samples, perform field tests, develop written reports, communicate findings, and maintain contacts with internal and external stakeholders.
• Volunteer experience through national service programs is counted toward qualification if related.
• Follow OPM's qualification standards for the CSI position:
  Consumer Safety Inspector Series, GS‑1862.
