Congressman Josh Gottheimer's District Office seeks an Outreach Liaison to serve as the primary architect of the Member's district presence and constituent engagement strategy. This is a high-impact role that directly shapes how Northern Jersey residents experience their representation in Congress. The Outreach Liaison will develop and execute comprehensive outreach initiatives, manage significant district events, and serve as the representative face of the Congressman across Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties.
In this role, you will:
- Own the strategic vision for maximizing the Member's visibility, engagement, and impact across the District
- Identify, plan, and execute district events—town halls, community round tables, business visits, ribbon cuttings that meaningfully connect the Congressman with Jersey families and local leaders
- Coordinate all operational elements of major events—securing appropriate space, staffing, technology infrastructure, and security arrangements
- Actively cultivate and maintain relationships with business leaders, civic organizations, local officials, and community stakeholders across the District
- Represent the Congressman at district functions and events when the Member is unavailable, serving as an effective ambassador for the office
- Oversee district-level written communications—certificates, constituent letters, proclamations—ensuring they are timely, accurate, and appropriately personalized
- Seize emerging opportunities for constituent service, visibility, and engagement as they arise
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in execution, strategic thinking, and constituent focus. You are naturally organized, detail-oriented, and capable of anticipating challenges and proactively proposing solutions. You work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines consistently, and juggle competing priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to articulate the Congressman's vision to diverse audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and genuine ability to build relationships with community leaders, staff, and constituents
- Proven ability to manage complex logistics and multi-stakeholder coordination
- Flexibility and willingness to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends as event schedules require
- Reliable transportation and availability to travel throughout Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties
- Strong enthusiasm for constituent service and a genuine commitment to helping Jersey families and communities
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend availability
