Job Overview
VP, Business Development Consultant in LPL's Business Development division will drive sales by identifying and aiding in recruitment of premium segment financial advisors and teams. This role attracts leading advisors from global banks, wirehouses, and RIAs and establishes the firm’s presence in this market segment.
Responsibilities- Develop sales and recruiting strategies; research, source, and engage prospects.
- Identify new prospective advisors within the target segment by making initial sales calls and responding to inquiries.
- Own advisor segments of the pipeline from initial contact to advisor joining LPL, working closely with Regional Directors and Division Managers.
- Meet with prospective advisors to demonstrate LPL’s unique value proposition and address questions or concerns.
- Navigate long sales cycles with multiple buying influences.
- Evaluate potential advisors using discretion and independent judgment to determine fit for LPL.
- Train and educate internal staff on recruiting premium segment wirehouse and bank advisors, coaching the team on competitive landscape and hurdles.
- Continuously improve recruitment practices and affinity partnerships to increase sourcing of women advisors.
- Understand and articulate LPL’s business model, policies, industry, and benefits of joining affiliation options.
- Partner with BD leadership on evolving LPL’s offering and capabilities to establish market leadership.
- Identify external organizations, local events, and conferences for new sourcing channels and attend events on behalf of LPL.
- Serve as subject matter expert, empowering LPL’s BD team through consultation and resources to attract premium segment candidates.
- Design, experiment, and test new approaches to attract diverse candidates.
- Leverage data to track program performance, identify trends, and align projects to company priorities.
- 10+ years in the financial services industry, with proficiency in the RIA marketplace and working with wirehouse advisors.
- Willingness and ability to travel 60% of the time.
- Will reside in and/or be willing to relocate.
- Successful track record of managing and closing complex sales.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Polished, professional demeanor and positive ‘can‑do’ attitude.
- Influence decisions and direction across the organization.
- Superior verbal, written, and listening skills with adaptability across audiences.
- Consultative and relationship‑building skills essential.
- Team‑player with a positive, collaborative mindset.
- Experience partnering with cross‑functional teams and business leaders to execute strategies.
- Preferred:
Series7,66, and
24 licenses. - Strong familiarity with MS Office suite and Salesforce.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
Pay (base + incentive): $ – $. Salary is determined by skill, experience, education, and location. Incentive pay depends on achievement of goals. LPL Total Rewards includes 401(k) matching, health benefits, employee stock options, paid time off, and volunteer time off.
