Security Officer serves as an important part of the healthcare team by helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role combines vigilance, professionalism, and compassionate customer service to protect people, property, and the operations of the health system. The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling facilities, monitoring for potential security concerns, managing access control, conducting weapon screenings, responding to emergencies, and supporting crisis de-escalation efforts.
Strong communication, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to interact respectfully with a diverse population are critical to success in this position.
- Conducting indoor and outdoor patrols of the facility and surrounding areas to help maintain a safe and secure environment
- Monitoring entrances, access control systems, and facility activity while identifying and addressing potential safety or security concerns
- Providing professional and compassionate customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff while enforcing facility policies and safety standards
- Performing weapon screenings and controlling access to designated areas in accordance with hospital procedures
- Responding to emergencies and security incidents, including participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation using certified training techniques
- Completing incident reports, data entry, and other administrative tasks using computer systems and Microsoft Office
- Communicating effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and emergency personnel to support a safe and respectful healthcare environment
- Patrolling the perimeter with a company vehicle
- You remain calm, alert, and professional in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- You communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, visitors, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- You are comfortable balancing security responsibilities with compassionate customer service
- You demonstrate strong judgment and the ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and potentially challenging situations
- You are organized and comfortable with computer systems, data entry, incident reporting, and Microsoft Office
- You are willing and able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and meet the physical demands of the job

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid New Jersey Driver's License, with eligibility to be covered by the organization's insurance carrier. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must transfer their license and vehicle registration to New Jersey within 60 days of hire.
