The Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) will bring excellent communication and organizational skills to model our mission of providing absolute respect and unconditional love to all young people and support them in a strength‑based, trauma‑informed, and harm‑reduction focused environment.

YESS responsibilities include engaging continuously with youth, facilitating activities, and implementing youth‑identified success plan goals, along with crisis intervention, documentation, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide unconditional positive regard to young people regardless of their behavior.
  • Support Case Management services: welcome youth, build supportive relationships, coach through success plan goals, monitor medication, facilitate daily house activities, and participate in outside activities.
  • Provide crisis de‑escalation and intervention as necessary.
  • Document intake, orientation, transitions, daily progress notes, incident reports, medication logs, and house activity logs.
  • Facilitate assigned youth group activities supporting the five resiliency objectives:
    Wellness, Social Navigation, Financial Literacy, Education and Employment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor such as copying forms, preparing welcome kits, laundering linens, cleaning residential spaces, and maintaining youth common areas.
  • Cover front desk, supervise, attend meetings, training, and supervise transportation and agency resources.
Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Preferred experience working with young people ages 18‑24 experiencing homelessness or human trafficking, or lived experience; knowledge of public benefits and community in NJ.
  • Self‑starter and team player with strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with adolescents.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Valid NJ driver’s license with good driving record; ability to transport clients/staff if required.
