Bilingual Domestic Violence Counselor

At the direction of and in collaboration with the Director, this role oversees and provides all direct residential services to survivors of domestic violence. The position collaborates closely with the Director of Community Support Services to develop a safe and confidential environment for all residential clients of the YWCA. All positions within the shelter are trained to answer the hotline and provide backup shift coverage.

• Ensure the delivery of individual counseling, support groups, advocacy, and domestic violence information and referrals to outside agencies.
• Provide direct services including intakes/exit interviews, initial individual counseling sessions (safety planning, education, assessment for services), and psycho-educational group counseling.
• Conduct client advocacy and referrals.
• Meet walk-in clientele as needed and conduct services at various YWCA locations.

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in domestic violence services.
• Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and trauma.
• Demonstrated cultural competency in experience or education.
• Excellent verbal, written, and public-speaking skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Proficient with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Flexible schedule to meet client needs, including evenings and weekend interventions.
• All positions trained in answering the hotline and providing backup shift coverage.
