Cloud Scale Runtime Engineer:
Apache Open Source / HTTPD, Integration, and BaaS solutioning. Engineer with experience working with open source platforms such as Apache HTTPD and other Apache projects like Camel, Service Mix, Karaf, User Grid (BaaS), Kafka, Storm, Zookeeper, Mesos, HTRace, JBatch/Batch
EE, Ignite, Ripple, Streams, and other projects. The Cloudscale Runtime engineering team is responsible for engineering and delivering next-generation lightweight open standards-based platforms for application development/deployment, caching, messaging, and integration services in a client private cloud. The team’s responsibilities include the delivery and adoption of these platforms across client business lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineer efficient service provisioning and management of platforms in the client private cloud environment.
- Develop integrated monitoring and management solutions for lightweight runtimes from Apache projects.
- Enable on-demand scalability and capacity management of services.
- Engineer platform security guidelines consistent with client global security policies.
- Provide subject matter expertise to enable rapid application development and deployment leveraging Apache Cloud Scale runtime platforms.
- Work closely with application development teams to handle escalations and provide timely issue resolutions.
- Evaluate and assess next-generation runtime frameworks and develop usage patterns and recommendations for early adopters.
Must-Have
Skills:
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with web server & application routing platforms such as Apache HTTPD, Eureka, or integration products like Service Mix.
- Experience leveraging Apache open source capabilities in public cloud platforms for service provisioning, management, and monitoring, including disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience with projects involving multiple services/component integration.
- Experience in engineering platform security and integrating with security/authentication/authorization services.
- Strong exposure to application paradigms, network protocols, and resilient services around Apache components.
- Exposure to programming languages such as Ruby, Java, C/C++, C#.
- Experience with REST/JSON and Web Services services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice-to-Have
Skills:
- Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Cloud Foundry, Google Cloud, Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Storm or Kafka.
- Exposure to API-based application services integration frameworks.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Chef.
- Experience with monitoring frameworks like Graphite, Wily, RTView.
- Log management experience using Logstash/Splunk.
- Exposure to middleware components such as web servers, app servers, messaging, and integration platforms.
