School Bus Driver QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalence;
Meet requirements in Bulletin 119 and 1475 of the State of Louisiana Transportation Handbook;
Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License with P and S endorsement;
Must be certified to serve as a school bus operator;
Must have proven driving ability and experience;
Must be able to transport students during the school day.

JOB GOALTo assure safe transportation for all students assigned to his/her bus and bus paraprofessional where applicable.

COMPENSATIONAllen Parish Board Salary Schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Transports students to and from school on schedule.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspection and post-trip inspection on all items listed in Bulletins 119 and 1475.
- Submit all reports and records as required.
- Attend all meetings as required by the Supervisor of Transportation or other school officials.
- Observe all traffic laws and regulations as mandated by the local school board, city or town, state and/or federal governments.
- Promptly report discipline problems that occur on the bus to the principal or his/her designee.
- Take every precaution to afford maximum protection to the students being transported; immediately report all accidents involving Allen Parish School Board buses.
- Maintain communication and work cooperatively with parents, students, principals and other Allen Parish School Board employees.
- Perform responsibilities in environmental conditions ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat, dampness and exposure to moderate to very loud noise levels.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.
- Adheres to a time and/or duty schedule authorized.
- Assumes responsibility for attending any administrative and/or professional meetings called by the principal or supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters related the Allen Parish School Board.
- Maintain professional personal appearance and demonstrate respect for colleagues.
- Attend work regularly; report to work on time; and provide advance notice of need for absence.
- Gain approval from the principal for any time off of work. Out-of-state trip must be placed on the School Board agenda and approved by the Board.
- Display proper respect for authority, receive and implement constructive criticism, avoid use of sarcasm and inappropriate behavior and language when dealing with others and serve as exceptional model for all.
- Complete work efficiently and accurately (with few/no errors) within deadlines without supervision.
- Perform job responsibilities consistently, use time wisely, plan properly, and take care of materials and equipment.
- Demonstrates trustworthiness; exercise good judgment.
- Plan and deliver district and school-level professional development.
- Support, implement, assist with, and/or ensure application of district initiatives and other programs or directives of the Superintendent and Board.
- Keep the principal and/or direct supervisor informed of the progress being made in the area(s) of responsibility.
- Keep abreast professionally by attending local, regional, state, or national meetings and/or staff development that address area(s) of responsibility as directed by the principal.
- Collaborate with district leadership, administrators and teachers to analyze data, establish goals and develop plans with action steps and a means to monitor effectiveness.
- Analyze data to make data-driven decisions
- Complete and submit all forms, reports, documentation, and training by required dates and in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Remain open to suggestions and innovative ideas; receive and apply feedback.
- Demonstrate competence in areas of responsibility.
- Exert every effort to constructively involve stakeholders in all professional settings.
- Communicate appropriately face-to-face, through phone calls and electronic communication and work effectively with all populations.
- Receive and respond to phone calls and text messages prior to the start of the work day, after the conclusion of the work day and on non-working days, when necessary.
- Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students as needed or directed.
- Attend faculty, staff and department meetings as needed or directed.
- Attend training sessions as needed or directed.
- Attend job fairs and related recruitment and retention events as needed or directed.
- Attend back-to-school, orientation, stakeholder involvement, open-house, extracurricular events, co-curricular events as needed or directed.
- Attend school board and/or committee meetings as needed or directed.
