About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck‑shovel open‑pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi‑Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol‑free workplace and has adopted a zero‑tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Resource Geologist to join our Mount Milligan Mine team.

Reporting to the Mine Geology Superintendent, the Senior Resource Geologist is responsible for producing and maintaining the long mineral resource models of the deposit and providing timely mineral resource and reconciliation information as per the company’s internal and external reporting schedule. The resource geologist works in conjunction with the mine and exploration geology teams as well as with processing and engineering teams for smooth information transfers for mineral reserve and extraction work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and maintain long‑term mineral resource models as per the company reporting schedule (internal and external).
  • Act as the qualified person for reporting of the mine’s mineral resources, including maintaining records of gains and losses of the Mineral Resources due to exploration successes and depletion.
  • Maintain the mineral resource book for the deposit.
  • Prepare documentation about models for internal and external use.
  • Liaise with exploration and mine geology to ensure mineral resources are well‑supported by geological information.
  • Liaise with mine engineering and processing to ensure model information meets downstream user needs.
  • Assure the integrity and quality of input data (drilling, sampling, survey, etc.) as well as output information (block models) to ensure that any decisions the company makes have a sound and defendable basis.
  • Prepare reconciliation reports as per the company’s schedule and in conjunction with mine geology, engineering, and processing personnel.
About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral resource estimation, ideally with experience in porphyry deposits.
  • Sound understanding of geostatistical concepts and their applications.
  • High proficiency in geological modelling, preferably using Leapfrog software.
  • Sound understanding of structural concepts.
  • Good communication skills, especially written communications.
  • Experience with the compilation of Technical Reports.
  • Proficiency with database software, preferably aQuire.
Working Conditions
  • Camp‑based role working 12‑hour days on a 14‑day on, 14‑day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
  • Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • PPE always required.
  • Safety‑sensitive environment with zero‑tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
  • Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
