Operations Manager
Karvo Companies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage all field operations on roadway and infrastructure projects. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements and company standards.
OverviewThe Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating crews, foremen, subcontractors, equipment, and materials while maintaining strong communication with project management, owners, inspectors, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily field operations for heavy highway and civil construction projects
- Supervise foremen, crews, and subcontractors to ensure productivity, quality, and safety
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work activities to meet project timelines
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
- Lead job site safety meetings and enforce safe work practices
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower requirements
- Monitor production, costs, and progress; identify and resolve issues proactively
- Communicate regularly with project managers regarding schedule, costs, and field conditions
- Coordinate inspections with owners, engineers, and regulatory agencies
- Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, and job site documentation
- Support quality control efforts and ensure work meets contract standards
- Assist with training, mentoring, and development of foremen and field personnel
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment aligned with Karvo Companies’ values
- Minimum 5 years of heavy highway or civil construction experience, including superintendent-level leadership
- Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, utility, grading, concrete, and paving operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors
- Experience working with DOT projects and inspectors
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with daily reporting and basic construction software
- Valid driver’s license required
- OSHA 30
- First Aid / CPR
- DOT or state highway construction certifications
- Work zone traffic control certification
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to walk active jobsites and perform field inspections
- Willingness to work extended hours as project schedules require
