Are you eager to build a student ministry that will shape the future of a growing church? Do you have the vision and initiative to establish culture, structure, and momentum where new foundations are being laid? Are you ready to invest deeply in students and earn the trust of families in a church that is intentionally prioritizing the next generation?

About College Heights Church

College Heights Church is a welcoming, Christ-centered congregation in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (approximately 45 minutes from Louisville), with nearly 300 people gathering weekly for worship.

We are in a season of growth and intentional investment: we have expanded to two Sunday services and are renovating space to better serve children and students. Our vision is to “Grow God’s Family,” and we are committed to reaching new and younger families in a growing community while shepherding a multi-generational church well.

Position Overview

The Youth Pastor will lead the development of a healthy, relational, Christ-centered youth ministry for middle and high school students. This is a great opportunity in a church that is intentionally investing in the next generation.

We are seeking a leader who is relational, creative, and self‑motivated – someone who can create structure, lead volunteers, and establish a ministry culture that students want to be part of and parents can trust.

The Youth Pastor will collaborate closely with our co‑pastors and contribute to the broader disciple‑making mission of the church.

Key Responsibilities
Relational Discipleship and Pastoral Care
  • Build consistent relationships with middle and high school students through regular presence, intentional conversation, and spiritual leadership.
  • Develop trust with parents through communication, visibility, and genuine pastoral care.
  • Provide shepherding support to students and families, helping them connect more deeply to Jesus and the life of the church.
  • Be present in the community where students are (as appropriate), including school events, games, performances, and key moments.
Ministry Building and Programming
  • Develop and lead a sustainable weekly youth gathering rhythm.
  • Select and implement engaging, Gospel‑focused curriculum.
  • Plan engaging discipleship environments that are relational, structured, and spiritually meaningful.
  • Create a strategy for retreats, mission/service opportunities, and seasonal events as capacity allows.
Volunteer Recruitment and Leadership
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support youth ministry volunteers.
  • Build a volunteer culture where leaders feel equipped, cared for, and aligned.
  • Establish age‑appropriate safety, communication, and ministry practices.
Collaboration and Church Alignment
  • Work closely with the co‑pastors in shaping youth vision, strategy, and priorities.
  • Help integrate students and families into the broader church community.
  • Provide strategic input related to children’s‑to‑youth ministry transition and family discipleship as the church’s staffing and structure continues to develop.
Qualifications Spiritual and Personal
  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, with character and humility consistent with pastoral ministry.
  • Alignment with Wesleyan theology and a desire for others to encounter the hope of Christ.
  • Relational strength and emotional maturity—able to build trust with students, parents, and volunteers.
  • Self‑directed and reliable; able to create momentum without needing constant oversight.
Experience And Skills
  • Experience in youth ministry, student leadership, education, or related youth environments preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build systems and structure while remaining highly relational.

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; demonstrated calling and relevant experience are most important.

Additional Details
  • Part‑time role: 20–30 hours per week (flexible scheduling; weekends and some evenings required).
  • Compensation up to $45,000 depending on experience and fit.
  • Potential for role growth as the church grows.
  • We are also hiring a Worship Pastor and welcome referrals or candidates connected to complementary leaders. Check out our Worship opportunity HERE.
