SUMMARYTeaches a full range of skills and knowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students topass the CPC examination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Presents facilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS coding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies
- Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision‑making

- Ability to instruct through remote and in‑person delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and/or online using a Learning Management System)
- Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework and projects
- Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date records of student academic and attendance performance
- Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all College policies, and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement
- Follows all retention policies of the College to ensure students are in attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor (CPC‑I) with the AAPC
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field
- Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience
- Demonstrated experience managing key metrics
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast paced environment
- Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Demonstrated basic Blackboard skills (or equivalent program)
- Demonstrated experience with online instruction
- Professional presentation skills

- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
- The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.00/hour.
