Class
Title:
School Psychologist
Basic Function: To support instruction by serving as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation, intervention, assessment, and comprehensive psychological services to students in the Hardin County Schools.
Representative Duties /
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct consultation services for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral difficulties by participating in Intervention Assistance Teams or collaborating with school staff in identifying difficulties, developing, and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Provide indirect consultation services for teachers, administrators, and parents by supporting staff implementation of policies and procedures, providing school-wide consultation and training, and disseminating relevant information.
- Provide consultation services to parents by interpreting information such as psychiatric diagnoses and assisting them in the intervention and special education processes.
- Conduct appropriate screening assessment measures for academic and attention needs as needed to gather data for intervention strategy development.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and assist school staff in development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Follow Hardin County Schools policies and procedures in regard to psycho educational assessment for students initially referred and conduct appropriate evaluations.
- Facilitate reevaluation process as outlined in the Hardin County Schools Special Education policies and procedures.
- Assist school and district staff regarding special education students who have transferred from another school district.
Comprehensive Psychological Services
- Act in accordance with existing ethical standards and regulations, develop and maintain due‑process records and confidentiality.
- Facilitate social skills group counseling.
- Seek professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other district departments and community services.
- Participate in scheduled support team meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Other
- Familiarity with and incorporation of technology in daily tasks.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Adheres to the professional code of ethics.
- Certificate for School Psychologist
202 days. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
