Job Summary

The Test Engineer is responsible for analyzing electronic product failures, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions to improve product reliability and quality. This role supports manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams by performing detailed failure analysis and recommending design or process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
Failure Analysis
  • Perform detailed failure analysis on electronic products using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Identify root causes of failures (electrical, mechanical, thermal, or process-related).
  • Conduct component-level and system-level analysis.
Testing & Validation
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and methodologies for product validation.
  • Perform functional, reliability, and stress testing (e.g., thermal cycling, burn‑in, vibration).
  • Validate corrective actions and engineering changes.
Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot defective units using schematics, test equipment, and software tools.
  • Use tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and X‑ray inspection systems.
  • Support production teams in resolving field and line issues.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze test results and failure data to identify trends and recurring issues.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Track failure rates and support yield improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
  • Recommend design, process, or material improvements to prevent recurrence of failures.
  • Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) implementation.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma improvement projects.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.
  • Provide feedback on product design for reliability improvement.
  • Assist in New Product Introduction (NPI) testing and validation.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience
  • 3–7+ years of experience in electronics testing, failure analysis, or product validation.
  • Experience in manufacturing or repair environment is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits, PCB design, and components.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques (FA, RCA, FMEA).
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of reliability testing standards is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) or semiconductor industry.
  • Background in reliability engineering or quality engineering.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with automated test systems (ATE).
