POSITION SUMMARY Axiom Space is a fast‑paced, highly technical environment pushing the boundaries of human spaceflight and advanced engineering. We are seeking a driven, resilient, and detail‑oriented Mechanical Designer who thrives in complex, multidisciplinary settings. This role is ideal for someone who brings high energy, strong collaboration skills, and a passion for designing hardware that performs reliably in demanding conditions.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with various project teams and stakeholders

Design components and assemblies to meet project requirements

Design for manufacturability and maintenance

Create 3D CAD production models

Create 2D drawings using GD&T according to ASME Y14.5

Perform additional job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience Associate degree or bachelor's degree in design, or related field, with 5-10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred experience in life support engineering or similar role Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD environments (preferably, Solid Works)
Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges

Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results

Requirements Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones

Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
