Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer III to support a major nuclear power generation project in Perry, Ohio. This long‑term contract opportunity offers the chance to apply and expand your technical expertise in a highly specialized and growing sector of the energy industry.
The successful candidate will independently perform complex engineering assignments, develop innovative solutions to technical challenges, and lead the production of critical instrumentation and control system deliverables. This role requires a strong technical background in control systems, instrumentation design, and power generation applications.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute engineering work requiring independent judgment, evaluation, and adaptation of established engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Develop solutions to complex engineering challenges and provide technical leadership on assigned projects.
- Lead the preparation of instrumentation engineering and design deliverables, including:
- Instrument Indexes
- Instrument Data Sheets
- Control System Data Sheets
- Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) documentation
- I/O Lists
- Process Control Narratives
- Design and support Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering studies, cost estimates, and proposal evaluations.
- Review and recommend control system components and equipment for procurement.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians as required.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and advancements in instrumentation and controls engineering.
- Support project execution activities in both office and field environments.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Deliver quality work products while managing multiple priorities and project deadlines.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
- 6‑10+ years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience.
- Strong background in instrumentation systems and industrial control systems.
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and control platforms such as:
- ABB
- Emerson Ovation
- Siemens T3000
- Mark VIe
- Micro Net
- Knowledge of control systems associated with gas boilers and turbine operations.
- Proficiency with engineering and design software including:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AutoCAD
- 2D and/or 3D CAD platforms
- Bluebeam
- Revit
- Navisworks
- Strong technical writing, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Commitment to professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, and quality.
- Willingness to travel and work in both office and field settings as project needs require.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Previous experience supporting nuclear power generation projects.
- Experience leading engineering teams or mentoring junior engineers.
