Electrical Drafter / Designer - Control Systems Position Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Drafter / Designer to support the design and documentation of industrial electrical control panels and automation systems.
This position will work closely with controls engineers, project managers, panel-shop personnel, and field installation teams to develop accurate panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Create and maintain electrical control-system drawings.
- Develop control panel layouts and enclosure drawings.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and termination drawings.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials.
- Produce drawings for industrial control panels and automation systems.
- Update drawings based on engineering changes and field redlines.
- Prepare final as-built drawings and project documentation.
- Work with engineers to translate control-system concepts into production-ready drawings.
- Coordinate with panel builders to resolve drawing and fabrication questions.
- Support field installation teams with drawing updates and technical documentation.
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, symbols, and document-control procedures.
- Verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Assist with component selection and panel layout optimization.
- Maintain organized electronic project files and revision histories.
- Experience with electrical drafting, design, controls, automation, or related technical drafting.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design software.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics.
- Understanding of electrical control components and wiring practices.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple drawings and projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
