Mechanical Tool Designer

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Tool Designer with 5-7 years of experience in industrial and manufacturing automation. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in mechanical automation design, tooling, material handling, robotics, high-speed automation lines, and machine integration.

The candidate must be proficient in Solid Works and AutoCAD and capable of independently handling complex mechanical design requirements while coordinating with onsite/offshore teams, vendors, customers, and cross-functional engineering teams.

• Design and development of manufacturing automation systems, including:
• Assembly automation
• Machine integration
• Process optimization
• Design of conveyor systems, material-handling equipment, and transfer mechanisms.
• Design and implementation of pick-and-place systems using:
• Pneumatic systems
• Servo systems
• Robotic technologies
• Industrial robotic automation for:
• Machine tending
• Packaging
• Inspection
• Design of jigs, fixtures, tooling, and special-purpose machines (SPM).
• Strong knowledge of bowl feeder selection

• Strong knowledge of high-speed automation line design
  .
• Sensor selection and application.
• Material-handling equipment and SPM design.
• Selection of standard mechanical components such as:
• LM Guides
• Servo motors
• Bearings
• Actuators
• Other mechanical purchased components
• Strong proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD
  .
• Working knowledge of electrical devices such as switches, load cells, LVDTs, etc.
• Ability to conceptualize and develop solutions for complex mechanical design requirements.
• Ability to lead/coordinate a team of approximately 10-12 members and work effectively with onsite/offshore teams.

• Perform engineering calculations related to:
• Strength of materials

• Other machine/tool design parameters
• Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, materials, hardness, tolerances, and other design requirements.
• Evaluate the feasibility of using machines to perform sequential manufacturing operations.
• Create working drawings, detailed drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using AutoCAD and Solid Works.
• Analyze machine designs and systems for compliance with applicable standards, including OSHA, CE, and customer-specific requirements

• Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining methods, surface finishes, hardness, and manufacturability.
• Coordinate with customers, internal engineering teams, technical staff, and vendors.
• Obtain technical information and specifications from vendors.
• Follow applicable health, safety, and ISO procedures.
• Communicate task progress, project status, and technical issues to the supervising designer/project team.
• Supervise mechanical design activities at the project level and delegate tasks to team members when required.

• Coordinate with electrical designers regarding machine input/output requirements and electrical interfaces.
• Review machine operations and sequences with PLC/programming teams.
• Support fabricators, machinists, toolmakers, and electricians during machine debug, integration, troubleshooting, and system completion.
• Determine appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment for fabrication and assembly of mechanical components.
• Select appropriate purchased mechanical components and create purchase requisitions with required delivery dates.
• Review project instructions and drawings to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, and potential design issues.
• Assist in developing and maintaining mechanical design and departmental standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
