LHH is seeking a detail‑driven and proactive Tax Manager to join our clients growing manufacturing organization. This leader will oversee all U.S. indirect tax compliance, including sales & use tax, excise, and other local taxes. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on manager with the technical expertise to ensure compliance, and the leadership skills to guide a high‑performing team within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of all domestic sales, use, excise, and local tax returns
. - Monitor state & local tax law changes and ensure company policies and processes remain compliant.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment surrounding indirect tax processes.
- Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and finance teams to ensure tax‑sensitive transactions are properly captured.
- Oversee tax determinations on customer invoicing, new product launches, and changes in raw material usage.
- Support month‑end close activities, including account reconciliations and tax accruals.
- Supervise and develop a small team of tax specialists or analysts.
- Implement process improvements to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and enhance efficiency.
- Lead responses to state & local tax audits, providing documentation and representing the company as needed.
- Leverage SAP to manage tax data, reporting, and system accuracy, ensuring proper tax coding across transactions.
- Collaborate with IT on system updates and tax automation/tool enhancements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of U.S. indirect tax experience (sales & use, excise, local taxes)—manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience (lead, senior, or management level).
- SAP experience required (tax configuration or transactional experience).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred

- Familiarity with multi‑state tax rules and manufacturing environments.
