General Manager (Steelworks Projects)

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Manager (Steelworks Projects) to lead business development, pre-tender strategy and full project execution for steelworks projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing new steel projects, overseeing cost planning and tender submissions and managing overall project performance.

This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise in structural steelworks and proven project management capability.

• Lead efforts in lobbying and securing steelworks projects from developers, consultants, main contractors and government agencies.
• Identify new market opportunities and expand the company’s steelworks portfolio.
• Monitor market trends, pricing movements and competitor activities.

• Oversee pre-tender cost quantification and estimation for steelworks projects.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Lead tender clarifications, negotiations and contract discussions.
• Approve final tender submissions prior to management sign-off.

• Oversee end-to-end project management from award to completion.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with specifications.
• Supervise project managers, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
• Monitor fabrication, delivery, and installation schedules.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and statutory requirements.

• Plan and control manpower allocation across multiple projects.
• Optimize deployment of site supervisors, welders, fabricators and subcontractors.

• Review progress claims and variation orders.
• Approve subcontractor payments and cost reports.
• Provide regular management reports on project and financial performance.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in steelworks projects (structural steel, fabrication, erection).
• Strong experience in cost estimation and tender management.
• Proven track record in securing and delivering steel projects.
• Sound understanding of construction contracts and project risk management.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Familiar with local building regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
