At Hannecard, what we achieve is the sum of countless individual efforts - and we look for people who want to grow with us, not just punch a clock. This Rubber Extrusion / Roll Builder role is hand-on production work at the core of what we do: building up rubber and elastomer coverings onto roller cores through extrusion, laying the foundation for a roller that will go on to be finished, tested, and shipped to a customer who's counting on it to perform.
Whythis role matters
Our rollers are built to outperform - customers choose Hannecard because our rollers run longer and help them produce better product. That performance starts here, before a roller ever reaches finishing. The quality of the rubber build - proper bonding to the core, correct thickness and consistency, sound material - determines whether everything that happens downstream actually holds up. Get this step right, and you've set the whole roller up to succeed.
Whatyou'll do
- Operate rubber extrusion equipment to apply elastomer coverings onto roller cores according to specification.
- Prepare roller cores prior to covering, ensuring proper surface condition for a sound bond.
- Monitor extrusion parameters (temperature, pressure, speed) to maintain consistent build quality.
- Inspect built rolls for defects - voids, inconsistent thickness, poor bonding - and flag or correct issues before handoff to finishing.
- Work with different rubber and elastomer compounds depending on the customer application and roller requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, and keep extrusion equipment in good working order.
- Communicate clearly with the finishing/machining team on job status and any quality concerns.
You'll report to a working supervisor who will train you on our specific compounds, equipment, and quality standards. As you build depth in different rubber compounds and roll specifications, there's room to take on more complex builds, mentor newer team members, and grow your pay alongside your capability. We invest a meaningful portion of our budget every year in developing our people, and we promote from within.
Whatyou'll bring
- Some rubber, elastomer, or polymer processing experience preferred
- Mechanically inclined, with comfort operating and monitoring production equipment
- Strong attention to detail - inconsistencies in the rubber build show up later, so precision matters here
- Ability to work independently while following process specifications closely
- Reliable and comfortable working in a production shop environment
- Ability to lift, move, and handle roller cores and materials as part of daily work
Someone who takes pride in getting the foundational work right, understanding that what they build becomes the base for everything that follows. If you like the idea of shaping a roller from raw material into something that will perform in a customer's mill for years, you'll do well here.
Remuneration & Working Conditions- Competitive wages and benefits
- Day shift
- A supportive team environment
- Direct mentorship from an experienced working supervisor, and real in-house advancement opportunities
- Safety training provided in line with OSHA standards for the equipment and materials used in this role
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Hannecard does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
