Licensed Practical Nurse

Building Principal and Director of Health and Wellness GENERAL SUMMARY

To perform direct and indirect nursing care for students guided by the nursing standards of the New Hampshire Board of Nursing under the supervision of the Registered Nurses in the District.

• Board certified graduate of an accredited nursing school
• Current LPN, RN or APRN licensure by the State of New Hampshire
• Current certificate in Basic Life Support (CPR and First Aid)
• Experience working with youth in a healthcare setting

• Provide first aid and monitor vital signs of students, as needed
• Administer medications as authorized
• Collect data and conduct focused nursing assessments of stable students
• Plan nursing care for students with stable conditions
• Maintain safe and appropriate nursing care within the LPN scope of practice
• Communicate and collaborate with the RN
• Promote a safe and therapeutic environment
• Participate in health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health for students with specific diagnoses
• File health information into students’ health files
• Enter student information into the SNAP program
• Assist with student screenings (vision, hearing, vitals)
• Uphold confidentiality regulations and requirements related to child abuse reporting under HIPAA and FERPA

• Perform additional duties as required by the Principal and Registered Nurse

• Lift up to 10 lb.
• Lift 11 to 25 lb.
• Lift 26 to 50 lb.
• Carry up to 10 lb.
• Carry 11 to 25 lb.
• Carry 26 to 50 lb.
• Stand, sit, walk, and maneuver within the 8‑hour workday as required

  Necessary for doing job effectively and correctly
• Tasting & Smelling:
  Not required

May be exposed to cleaning fluids, copier toner, disinfectants, lubricants, paints and solvents. Usually quiet to moderate noise.
