Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN), Pre-Op / Post-Op

Hours
  • PRN – You will typically work 1‑2 days per week (ideally 2 days). Your schedule will vary weekly.
  • Office hours Monday‑Friday 6:00am‑5:00pm – Your shifts will fall within these hours. You may need to work a little earlier/later as needed.
  • No late nights, weekends or holidays!
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state you will be working in.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Strong IV skills and experience working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Previous nursing experience in Pre‑Op, Post‑Op, PACU, OR, ASC, ICU, Med‑Surg or Telemetry floors is preferred.
Summary

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under the RN’s direction. Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct patient care in an individual Operating Room.
  • Ensure that proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards of practice.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations and be knowledgeable of patient rights.
  • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of the RN license as defined by the State.
  • Supervise other personnel in the room and direct or assist as necessary.
  • Immediately report and document unusual occurrences in the patient record.
  • Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication and continuity of patient care.
  • Assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care in an effective manner.
  • Maintain medical records in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Participate in continuing education/in‑service training as needed, staff meetings, and Q.A.P.I. program.
  • Follow physician orders and directions from management.
  • Actively participate in the development of a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training new staff when needed.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Recognize each department’s significance and work appropriately with other departments.

  • Maintains effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.

  • Attendance:
    Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences. Observes assigned work schedules and hours.
Education and/or Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: surgical, ASC, Pre/Post‑Op, PACU, ICU, Med‑Surg, Telemetry or OR.
Licenses and Credentials
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state where the worksite is located.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Systems and Technology
  • Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
