Our client, a global automotive glass manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to
establish and maintain a quality assurance system at their plant in Elizabethtown, KY. This manager will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System.
Responsibilities:- Develops strategic long- and short-term objectives/goals to support company vision and mission
- Establishes and is accountable for budget requirements
- Develops Quality team through coaching, feedback, and continued training activities
- Develops and controls Quality Management System
- Serves as primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement
- Supports engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer
- Supports the analysis of customer specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for manufacturing products
- Monitors plant conformance with QA standards and procedures
Conducts quality assurance training for associates - Suggests and implements methods for improving product quality or design or manufacturing processes
- Establishes and maintains strong customer relations to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development teams
- Provides reporting to management on quality issues, trends, and losses
- Ensures compliance with quality standards and leads external quality audits
- Ensures a safe workplace for all associates and visitors by establishing and maintaining 5S and environmental objectives of department
- Bachelor’s degree:
Engineering, Business Management, or similar field - Engineering and automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- 5 to 7 years progressive leadership experience
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Fishbone, KT, 8D, etc.
- Knowledge and ability to initiate PFMEA’s, PAP’s, and SPC’s
- Knowledge and experience with customer required Quality Measurement Systems.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Previous experience in leading continuous improvement activities
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to interpret, implement, and ensure compliance to customer and quality specifications
- Self-motivated, energetic with the ability to think outside the norm
- Proactive communicator in hearing the needs of internal customers and responsive in satisfying those needs with recommendations and solutions.
