The Supplier Quality Engineer will develop, maintain and support supplier quality assurance efforts to ensure that products and services meet supplier specifications.
Responsibilities- Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems and conduct technical/quality system assessments and related systemic audits of potential new/current suppliers
- Directs the supplier to perform root cause problem definition, analysis, and corrective action using sound problem solving techniques
- Create supplier development plans, perform supplier audits, implement closed loop corrective actions and generate quality metrics and reports in support of supplier management program
- Provides technical input for strategic sourcing team, including evaluation of supplier capability, specification review, product implementation and part transition
- Works closely with appropriate buyer to manage overall supplier performance
- Function as the technical liaison between suppliers, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to resolve quality issues, product improvements and for new supplier development
- Cooridinate supplier containment and internal containment is in place and effective.
- Ensure all supplier cost recovery items are captured and recover as required.
- Prepare quality reports and actions to improve quality
- Travel to Supplier locations to assist with problem solving, conduct audits and support supplier development
- Other duties or projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial/manufacturing engineering or equivalent work experience
- 2-4 years’ SQE experience
- ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Engineer Preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred
- Working knowledge of AIAG’s MSA, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, and SPC Manuals
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods
- Exposure to lean manufacturing concepts and techniques
- Good analytical skills and detail oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work through and influence others
