Outside Plant Technician

We are hiring Outside Plant Technicians to install and maintain fiber‑optic networks. This role involves aerial and underground drop installation, customer premise work, inside the home installation, and troubleshooting/repair of fiber services. Technicians work in the field daily and are expected to operate safely, efficiently, professionally, and independently or as part of a crew. Company is expanding into Essex County. Works sites vary.

CDL A or CDL B required to operate some equipment.

• Install aerial and buried fiber drops from distribution case to customer premises
• Perform customer installs, including ONT/Router setup, testing, and activation
• Conduct troubleshooting and repair of fiber service issues
• Ability to read and interpret maps and work orders
• Communicate with supervisors, co‑workers, and customers professionally
• Document work completed and inventory

• Experience in fiber installation, telecom, or utility work preferred
• Ability to work at heights with ladders, bucket trucks or off hooks
• Comfortable with working in all weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic understanding of hand tools and construction practices
• Willingness to learn with on‑the‑job training

• Field‑based (residential streets, poles, easements, and customer homes)
• Combination of aerial and underground work
• On‑Call is required
• Fast‑paced, production‑based environment with high quality expectations

• Can figure things out in the field without constant direction
• Takes pride in clean installations both outside and in the customer’s home
• Stay safe no matter the situation, if help is needed call and ask

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience
