Responsibilities and Duties:

• Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems. This involves using a variety of diagnostic tools to identify issues with electrical components, compressors, refrigerant levels, and other system parts.

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems operate efficiently and extend their lifespan. This includes inspecting, cleaning, and testing components, as well as replacing filters and checking refrigerant levels.

• Customer Service: Interact directly with clients to explain issues, provide recommendations, and offer solutions. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining technical information in an understandable way and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Mentorship and Supervision: Guide and train apprentices and junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to help them develop their skills and prepare for their own journeyman certification.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, hours spent, and any issues encountered. They also often generate invoices and estimates for services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• KY HVAC Journeyman License, which requires passing a journeyman exam. Some roles may also require an EPA Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.

• A high school diploma or GED.

• Strong technical and mechanical skills, including the ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams, and a solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

• Physical stamina to work in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and at heights on ladders or rooftops.

• Problem-solving abilities to quickly and accurately diagnose complex system issues.

• A valid driver's license for traveling to different job sites.
