Position: DIVERSION PROBATION OFFICER

PROBATION/DIVERSION OFFICER

Clermont County Juvenile Probation Application Due By:
August 31, 2026

Status:
Full‑Time Permanent (40 hours per week)

Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (hours may vary) Non‑exempt, Unclassified

Pay:
Negotiable depending on qualifications/experience

Probationary Period:
Clermont County Juvenile Court uses a 180 day training time frame for new employees. This time frame supports our adherence to the at‑will nature of your employment with Clermont County Juvenile Probation.

JOB OVERVIEW:
Manage and supervise cases of youth offenders who are under probation and/or diversion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Supervise youth on probation and/or diversion
  • Monitor compliance with Court orders
  • Monitor and redirect youth from involvement in the formal juvenile court system
  • Meet with parents/children who are in crisis to assist them in addressing their particular problem areas
  • Conduct drug testing and DNA testing
  • Maintain contact with the youth’s school to assure compliance with problem conditions
  • Refer youth to various service agencies such as drug/alcohol and mental health counseling providers, schools, Children’s Services, Job and Family Services and law enforcement agencies with matters involving juveniles and maintain contact to monitor attendance, compliance and issues
  • Attend Court hearings and testify when necessary
  • Conduct groups with youth on probation
  • Visit probationers at school, detention agencies and at home
  • Assist with supervision of college interns
  • Assist with supervision of youth performing community service when needed
  • Prepare Court reports, pre‑dispositional reports, social histories and case plans as required
  • Maintain current case file information/dictation on clients that clearly documents the relevant issues involved with each youth and family in the computer system
  • Monitor non‑reporting probation cases as needed
  • Meet with supervisor monthly to review cases
  • Provide transportation of probationers/parents
  • Any other duties as required by the Probation Supervisor

Requirements…

  • College degree with an emphasis in criminal justice and social services or a minimum of five years of work related experience
  • Attendance at evening educational groups for probationers may be required
  • Evening checks on probationers may be required as determined by supervisor within the forty hour work schedule
  • May be on call twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week as determined
  • Possess typing and Windows based computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one prior to employment date)

Working Conditions:

May come into contact with individuals who are violent, angry and/or prone to violence.

Pre‑Employment Screening may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, psychological evaluation, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certification, and or verification of work history.

Dress Code:
All employees are expected to dress in an acceptable, professional manner, any employee who has a tattoo must make sure that the tattoo(s) is/are covered up and not visible at all times during work hours. Any visible body piercings, with the exception of professional appearing ear piercing, shall not be filled with adornments during paid work hours in accordance with Clermont County Juvenile Court Personnel Policy and Procedures
