Position: LESD ASSISTANT COACH

The Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (LESD) seek an assistant coach. This part-time position requires approximately 10-15 hours per week.

About the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (LESD)

LESD is one of the top-ranked USA swim teams located in Northeast Ohio. We strive to create opportunities for each swimmer to reach their potential in and out of the pool. LESD has over four practice locations across the Greater Cleveland area and is part of the Lake Erie Swimming LSC, with novice to Olympic level athletes. As a team with a diverse athlete population, the LESD staff is committed to diversity recruiting in coach searches.

LESD coaches have a unique opportunity to collaborate together, interact with all LESD swimmers at meets, travel to high profile meets, and grow their coaching skills and careers.

THE POSITION

LESD is seeking a dynamic coach who is passionate about and committed to teaching swimmers and creating a fun environment for learning. The coach will work collaboratively with the LESD coaching staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coach and manage practice groups and provide daily feedback to every swimmer
  • Create daily practices to improve stroke technique and endurance of swimmers
  • Collaborate with LESD coaches
  • Foster positive interactions with parents, swimmers, and fellow coaches
  • Support swimmers on deck during swim meets
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ years coaching and workout/season planning experience required
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to create a fun environment with an education-based approach for age group swimmers
  • Knowledge about proper stroke technique and how to train age group swimmers
  • Patience working with younger swimmers
  • Ability and commitment to train and instruct multiple practice groups in the afternoon every day (hours may change during holiday breaks & summer schedule).
  • Ability to attend swim meets where LESD swimmer(s) are participating.
  • Strong customer service and decision making skills
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Hytek Meet Manager, Team Manager, and Team Unify, team administration skills are appreciated.
