As a Houseparent, you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing nurturing care, supervision, guidance, and discipline to the children in our care.
Our Houseparent is responsible for the following:
- The demonstrated knowledge of Department of Human Services and Masonic Children's Home regulations concerning the supervision of children.
- The demonstrated knowledge and skills required for completing the documentation necessary to maintain accurate records for the children including medication administration.
- The demonstrated knowledge of basic communication skills to record daily activity and communicate with house parents, tutors, and administration through the use of computer folders, logs, various computer programs, and e-mail.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport and credibility with children in our care. Maintains appropriate boundaries and professional relationship.
- Maintains positive communication with families, volunteers, college students, professionals, alumni, employees and visitors and through telephone contact.
- Maintains good communication with other staff through written or oral exchange of pertinent information through overlap meetings and the cottage logs.
- The demonstrated knowledge of preventative techniques to deescalate out of control behavior, enforces routine and guidelines, assigns appropriate consequences, and reports incidents.
- Attends Youth Appreciation Day Program, scheduled staff meetings, cottage meetings, educational meetings, team meetings etc.
What You Need as a Houseparent:
- Qualified by certification of Act 33.
- Must meet the Department of Human Services required 40 hours of annual in-service training to include First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety, Masonic Village, Resident Advocacy and Medication Administration.
- Must possess a current motor vehicle operator's license from the state of Pennsylvania.
- At least 21 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent with one year experience involving the supervision of a group of children or experience of a practical nature with children.
