Senior Director for the Institute for Engagement, Mission and Impact (EMI)

Elizabethtown College is currently seeking a Senior Director for the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact (EMI). The Senior Director of the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact (EMI) serves as the College's primary steward of mission integration, providing leadership, consultation, and strategic direction to ensure Elizabethtown College's mission and values are embedded throughout campus life, student development initiatives, co-curricular programs, and community engagement efforts.

They provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the entities, programs, and initiatives that comprise the Institute. These areas include the Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE), the Office of Student Opportunity, Access and Engagement, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Center for Global Understanding and Peace building. The Senior Director ensures that these areas work collaboratively and cohesively to deliver programs, student support, and community partnerships that develop culturally empathetic students who are informed about complex world issues and committed to peace, non-violence, human dignity, and social justice.

The Senior Director reports to the Vice President for Student Life, with expectations of regular collaboration with Academic Affairs and other areas on campus to successfully deliver Signature Learning Experiences and other programs.

Essential Functions
  • Provide strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and support for the staff, programs, centers, and offices that comprise the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact, ensuring programs align with Institute goals, College mission, values and strategic plan.
  • Serve as the College's primary steward of mission integration, providing leadership, consultation, and strategic direction to ensure the institution's mission and values are embedded throughout campus life, student development initiatives, co-curricular programs, and community engagement efforts.
  • Ensure that Institute programs and units work collaboratively and cohesively in advancement of the College's mission, values, motto, strategic plan, and commitment to educating students for lives of purpose, service, civic responsibility, and global citizenship.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on the Campus Inclusion Council, including partnering with campus community members in the ongoing revision and execution of the CIC Operational Plan.
  • Identify, foster, and create opportunities that integrate the Institute's areas of emphasis, including experiences that combine global learning, civic and community engagement, service learning, dialogue, and peace building.
  • Partner with Institutional Advancement, Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to oversee execution of scholarship agreements that fall within the purview of the Institute and explore new scholarship opportunities that include applicable Signature Learning Experiences rewarding student leadership, service and College values.
  • Partner with Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to set and maintain annual Bonner Leaders Program recruitment goals, including securing appropriate placements for federal work-study students.
  • Engage in ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of the Institute and the impact of Institute's programs on students, the campus community, and external partners, to include quarterly progress reports and an annual report on outcomes, trends, participation, student learning, community impact, and opportunities for program improvement distributed to Senior Leadership and campus partners.
  • Advance the long-term goal that each student has a meaningful encounter with Institute programs during their college career.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic schools, and relevant campus offices to promote curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular service-learning, global citizenship, dialogue, and peace building programs.
  • Support programs initiated by academic departments, faculty, academic schools and relevant campus offices that are consistent with the College's mission and the Institute's goals.
  • Lead relationship-building efforts with local nonprofit agencies, community partners, and other external organizations to identify, expand, and assess service, civic engagement, and community-based learning opportunities.
  • Provide strategic oversight to the Bonner Leaders Program from recruitment through graduation, developing metrics to track participation, outcomes, student development, and program value.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a scaffolded program model building student dialogue skills prioritizing human dignity and respectful engagement and teaching effective conflict resolution and restorative practices. This includes but is not limited to the Truth, Community Healing and Transformation program and other programs that promote restorative practices.
