PrimaryFunctions
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for supervising the sourcing and purchasing of essential materials for the business, including searching for raw material suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials such as vegetable, dry food and seafood. Bilingual Chinese Mandarin is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage daily purchasing activities, supervise staff, and allocate tasks
- Manage the purchasing process including the buying, selling and distribution aspects of the company
- Review new project proposals for the company
- Develop procurement rules and regulations for the organization
- Establish guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept and which vendors to consider
- Buy goods and services for the company
- Handle contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers
- Identify ideal suppliers based on quality, cost and reliability
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Prior experience working in the purchasing department in the same industry required
- Strong understanding of market conditions and trends
- Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport
- Positive and professional demeanor
- Strong contract negotiation skills with exceptional business ethics
- Bilingual Chinese Mandarin is preferred
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field required.
- At least 5 years of purchasing experience in a professional office environment preferred.
- Office and warehouse environment
- Occasional periods of standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Required wearing of appropriate PPE
- Exposure to hot/cold weather and loud noises in a warehouse environment
- Frequent computer and telephone use
- Frequent communication with people throughout the day
