FIRE INSPECTOR

Location:

Elk Grove Village, Illinois (Cook and DuPage Counties)

Salary/Pay Rate: $39.68 - $53.97 per hour (Posted 12/01/2025)

• Conduct onsite inspections of residential dwellings, multi-family dwellings, institutional, commercial, and industrial structures.
• Inspect fire protection systems—including sprinklers, alarms, and fire pumps—to ensure proper functionality and compliance with fire safety codes and standards.
• Prepare detailed and accurate reports, advising contractors of violations and identifying corrections needed to achieve compliance.
• Provide technical assistance to developers, contractors, and design professionals regarding fire safety systems.
• Maintain permit and fire inspection records in Village software.

• Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Fire Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Three (3) or more years of experience in industrial fire inspections, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess a valid State of Illinois driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required certifications include:
Office of Illinois State Marshal Certified Fire Inspector I, Certified Basic Fire Prevention Officer, and/or Certified Fire Prevention Officer. If not currently holding one, must obtain a qualifying certification within the first six (6) months of employment.

40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

$39.68 - $53.97 per hour

On-site position; no remote work options.
