Lead Laboratory Technician – Tissue Services

To continue operating at our high standard, we’re seeking a Lead Laboratory Technician who has a strong background in human anatomy and a willingness to learn about the cadaveric advantages to continued medical education and training. The ideal candidate will be an expert communicator who has a strong ability to coordinate and collaborate across a range of departments.

Ultimately, the lead laboratory technician should be driven by a desire to exceed client expectations and company standards.

Objective of this role
  • Lead and complete all tasks related to incoming tissue services.
  • Ensure all tasks related to incoming tissue processing, and scanning are complete.
  • Training and maintaining highest level standard of the tissue services team.
  • Assist in Human resource functions for direct reports in tissue services team.
Responsibilities
  • With Leadership, plan daily/weekly task execution and expectations of the Tissue Services Team.
  • Collect, process, and prepare human cadaveric specimens for shipment.
  • Escort cadaveric specimen to scanning facilities for imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, DEXA).
  • Assist in per diem hiring and conduct training for new technicians following training guidelines (incoming processing, inputting specimens into database, audits, inputting notes).
  • Ensure receipt of incoming tissue is completed in a timely manner.
  • Track and ensure timely scanning of requested specimens with the tissue services specialist.
  • Ensure proper and timely disposal of all tissue specimens.
  • Assist leadership during any tissue bank Audits.
  • Facilitate tissue requests to sources in timely manner.
  • Participate with warehouse maintenance/upkeep.
  • Manage freezer organization and tissue storage/audits.
  • Update and maintain Innoved database to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Facilitate the receipt, packaging, and auditing of cremated remains.
  • Report list of tissue complaints for completed assessments w/pictures.
  • Adhere and promote all safety, compliance, and internal standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize and enforce safe lab practices to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong background in human anatomy.
  • Ability to work under changing conditions and urgent needs.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
