Position: Maintenance Mechanic (2nd or 3rd shift)

Maintenance Mechanic - 3rd Shift

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (OT possible: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Compensation: $31.78/hr + $1.50/hr shift differential + Overtime + Quarterly Bonus

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to maintain, repair, rebuild, and improve plant machinery and support systems in a self-directed team environment. This role is focused heavily on mechanical upkeep, including modification, assembly, and installation of equipment, with exposure to electrical and fluid power systems. The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with the Maintenance Lead, Manufacturing Services Coordinator, and Production Supervisors to support continuous operation and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to install, modify, and troubleshoot machinery.
  • Perform mechanical repairs, including disassembly, part replacement, welding, and refitting components.
  • Fabricate and weld various metals using electric and acetylene equipment.
  • Install and repair air, water, and gas piping systems; complete plumbing-related tasks as required.
  • Repair and maintain lift trucks, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic AC/DC motor control systems.
  • Operate shop equipment, including lathes, drill presses, grinders, power tools, and measurement devices.
  • Maintain proper service documentation and equipment files.
  • Support emergency repair activities and overall continuous improvement processes.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas in compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Proficiency in operating standard shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Skilled in welding, brazing, and cutting.
  • Experience in routing black pipe and hydraulic tubing.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities in mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems preferred.
  • Must provide personal tools required for the role.
