Concrete North, Inc. is an established union concrete subcontractor specializing in commercial and industrial concrete construction throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada. We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and successfully transitioning projects from bid to construction.
This is a salaried management position and is not a union position.
We are looking for a highly motivated estimator with extensive experience in commercial concrete construction who can independently manage multiple estimates while working collaboratively with our operations team.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial concrete construction projects.
- Review architectural, structural, and civil drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for foundations, slabs, elevated decks, grade beams, walls, footings, site concrete, and other concrete scopes.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontract pricing.
- Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare complete bid proposals and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers and executive management throughout the estimating process.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and scope review meetings as required.
- Analyze bid packages to ensure all project requirements are incorporated into the estimate.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and bid records.
- Participate in project turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Mentor junior estimating staff as the department grows.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of estimating experience in commercial concrete construction.
- Strong knowledge of structural concrete, foundations, slab-on-grade, site concrete, tilt-up, and reinforcing steel.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil plans and specifications.
- Experience estimating both negotiated and hard-bid projects.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
