the summer season is anticipated to begin may 1, 2026 and run through september
15, 2026
. Incumbents must be available to work flexible schedules that include evenings, holidays, and weekends. Actual hours assigned may be increased or decreased at anytime depending upon the needs of the program or department.
under close supervision, the recreation leader assists in planning and conducting a wide variety of recreational and educational activities and programs such as day camps, youth and adult sports, leisure and enrichment classes and special events specific to the assigned program area of the position. This position oversees and directs the activities of the participants at the site.
salary informationthe district typically appoints new employees at step 1 of the salary range $16.90- $18.44. Consideration for an appointment higher than step 1 will be based on experience, education, or the need for unique skills or knowledge, and shall be no more than the mid-point of the salary range. The following duties are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

- assists in planning, implementing and leading participants in a variety of recreation programs specific to a program area;
- follows cash handling procedures, ensuring policies are enforced and maintained;
- sets up and takes down equipment and assures all equipment and supplies are properly stored and secured at all times;
- provides a safe and clean environment with adequate supervision by implementing guidelines from csd and department policies and procedures manuals;
- provides courteous and professional service to all program participants, facility users, csd personnel and the public;
- arrives on time and in proper attire/appearance as required by csd guidelines;
- accountable for all program participants during program hours;
- monitors behavior of participants;
- conducts set up and clean up of facility and equipment;
- enforces rules and regulations of programs and facilities as mandated by csd policies;
- follows cash handling procedures, ensuring policies are enforced and maintained;
- attends, and participates at staff meetings and trainings;
- completes appropriate reports and forms as necessary;
- conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with department safety standards and the csd injury and illness prevention program;
- required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays;
- may assist in the on-site communication with parents, participants and the public;
- may assist with the operation of preparing and selling food including specialty items.

- possession of, or the ability to obtain, first aid and cpr/aed certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment; certification must be maintained through employment;
- ability to obtain and retain a work permit throughout employment, if under the age of 18;
- must be 15 years of age or older.
