Position Summary

This position will support student learning by teaching lessons for English Language Arts, Writing, and Math twice per week. They will create, plan, and execute these plans for second and third grade students while also maintaining classroom management and using a Biblically-structured curriculum. This position will help with transitions between classes, support behaviors during playtime, snack, and lunch.

Responsibilities
  • Create, plan, and execute second and third grade Math and ELA lessons using The Good and the Beautiful curriculum twice per week (Mondays/Wednesdays).
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Create a behavior management plan that best suits the students and teacher in the classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Allow opportunities for whole group, small group, and independent learning.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Participate in webinars that are related to iReady Assessments (total of
    3).
  • Communicate necessary information to the Director regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities.
  • Interact with parents and families during pick-up and drop-off times (9:00am and 1:00pm).
  • Participate in Chapels on Wednesday mornings if needed.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested.
  • Assist in monitoring student behaviors during transitions, playtime, and lunch.
  • Participate in Back to School Night, Performances, Fundraisers, and an Open House.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Holds a California Teaching Credential.
  • Has experience in the classroom setting.
