OverviewWhat you’ll do:
Welder Fabricator
We have an opening for experienced and skilled welders to work in our Weld Shop. Join a growing organization where your contribution is vital to communities and where you will be challenged, valued and depended on.
Responsibilities- Under moderate supervision, lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components and sub-assemblies to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
- Weld using GTAW and FCAW on mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel metals to fabricate vacuum chambers and vacuum valve weldments.
- Perform various weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to customer drawings and specifications, or other forms of instruction.
- Perform all duties as assigned and assist department supervisor on all other duties as assigned.
- Set-up and operate welding equipment to perform GTAW and FCAW welding operations on a variety of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel components.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product.
- Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
- Operate other accessory equipment and perform tasks necessary for welding metal (fusing metal segments) using welding methods such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other welding arcs.
- Operate small fabrication machines, band saw, drill press, and other power tools.
- Complete jobs assigned by the Weld Shop Supervisor and perform maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs (e.g., shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment).
- Participate in departmental training and perform general shop cleanup.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma, or equivalent, and 5–8 years of experience in various forms of welding.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to read units of measure.
- Some Certification Tests may be required.
- Hand, eye, and manual dexterity.
- Required to stand for long periods of time, reach, and bend.
- Required to lift up to 60 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule- 8 hour shift
- Day/Swing shift
- Monday to Friday
- TIG/MIG/DUAL SHIELD Welding: 3–5 years (Preferred)
