College and Career Coordinator
Oversight of College and Career Center:
Assists students, as needed and able, with college and career questions. Monitors students utilizing the College and Career Center. Assists Guidance Department in maintaining current and varied resources for the College and Career Center, including overseeing ordering of supplies and general housekeeping. Promotes and organizes activities that promote colleges and careers. Under direction from the Guidance Department provide individual college and career planning to students.
Preserve confidentiality of student information at all times (School-wide).
Works with the principals, AVID site team, and staff to pursue school-wide AVID as a means to strengthen the core instruction at Spectrum leading to increased access to college and career readiness for all students. Partners with AVID elective teachers and site team in documenting that all AVID essentials are met in order to assure annual certification. Acts as an AVID liaison with the principal, counselors, and other staff members as well as with AVID District Director.
Co-leads the building AVID site team in facilitating monthly meetings. Becomes an instructional leader, sharing techniques and materials through formal or informal professional development to help staff members across disciplines work with all learners. Provides resources to assist administration working with teachers to implement AVID strategies in their classroom. Meets with administration to collaborate on grades 6-12 AVID alignment and plan school-wide AVID professional development that matches the district improvement plan.
Works with the Guidance Department to facilitate the planning and scheduling of college field trips, guest speakers, and special programs with other teachers. Co-facilitates (with the Guidance Department) campus AVID parent involvement activities. Coordinates AVID data collection. Supports recruitment of new AVID learners. Recruits AVID students and coordinates (with the Guidance Department and administration) the AVID application process (February/March). Supports organization and maintenance of AVID certification materials.
Attends scheduled meetings with the District Director. Attends AVID trainings as directed by the principal or AVID District Director.
Works with the Registrar to assist with the enrollment and admissions process for incoming high school students. Works with the Registrar to assist with the withdrawal process for outgoing high school students. Works with the Registrar to schedule tours for incoming high school students with the high school Guidance Department and Principal. Runs tours when possible. Works with the Registrar to assist in entering and maintaining high school student information in the software data base.
Works with the Registrar to assist in maintaining high school student information (enrollment info, grade reporting, test results, attendance information, special education files when applicable, discipline records, graduation and scholarship documents, etc.) in the student cumulative folders (CUM Files).
Works with the Registrar to set and alert high school teaching staff to grading timelines. Works with the Registrar to receive and distribute quarterly, semester, and final high school grades for proofing. Works with the Registrar to alert administration on high school grading discrepancies and problems. Works with the Registrar to process high school report cards, which includes pulling the appropriate data and posting to parent portal.
Works with the Registrar to prepare and disseminate high school grading reports as needed, including, but not limited to, report cards, honor rolls, and eligibility lists.
Assists with the scheduling of appointments. Provides clerical support, as needed. Assists students entering guidance area. Assists with open house, information meetings, new family registration, and conferences.
ReceptionistPromotes and upholds Spectrum High School's values, mission, and vision in all communication between Spectrum and our families and community. First on the phones answers and directs all incoming calls to the high school providing answers to general questions or routing the caller to the appropriate personnel. Stays informed about current school calendars and events to provide thorough and accurate information.
Assists with document retention and destruction at the high school building, as directed by the 7th/8th grade Office Manager.
Seeks outside funding sources to support Spectrum's programs and activities. Works with administration to determine which funding sources to pursue. Works with appropriate staff to complete, submit, and follow through on funding applications within provided timelines.
