Salary Range: $90,000 - $113,000 (Based on Experience)

The Infection Control Preventionist/ADON is responsible for ensuring compliance with infection control guidelines, federal and state regulations. Compliance is achieved through ongoing training of staff, compliance audits, analysis of information including resident and staff infections – treatment of resident infections. Responsible for leading in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Oversees Risk Management and IDT. Supervises Health Information Department. Services are provided in accordance with the mission of Guardian Angels.
Job Duties:- Responsible for leading in the DON's absence, nursing meetings- monthly/quarterly
- Assists Lead MDS & Quality Coordinator with QAA & QAPI meetings.
- Leads Risk Management-quantifying and tracking falls, medication errors, and wounds, and reports to the appropriate leaders. Provides root cause analysis and intervention monitoring.
- Leads IDT Meetings- making sure the right conversations are happening and ensuring the productivity of time together.
- Co-Leads Safety Committee with Director of Maintenance.
- -Ensure drills are done according to regulation
- -Ensure emergency binder is up to date and placed in the correct locations (appendix Z)
- -Provides safety communication and information to those who need to know
- -Participate in the coalition meetings provided by Leading Age
- -Responsible for committee minutes and ensuring the committee functions as appropriate, including having proper representation.
- Assists with admissions as necessary.
- Assists with interviews, coaching, disciplinary action, performance reviews, and other related staff items.
- Acting Director of the site in the absence of the Director of Nursing, under the direction of the Regional Clinical Director.
- Assists with survey preparedness.
- Participates in the Resource Nurse rotation.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining compliance with the facility’s overall infection control program and prevention. This program will maintain current standards for infection control, disease specific illnesses.
- Ensures that the facility meets all relevant federal and state regulations related to infection control. Regular updates and audits of the IPCP are necessary to maintain compliance and adapt to new guidelines.
- Responsible for assisting in implementing the infection control module in PCC, including providing training to current staff/newly hired nurses to ensure that the program is being utilized appropriately and functioning to full capacity.
- Responsible for assisting in developing documentation tools for assessment of initial infection, daily monitoring/documentation of infections until resolution in achieved. Documentation tools will include development of individualized resident care plans denoting infection present.
- Responsible for determining compliance of facility with antibiotic stewardship measuring using Loeb’s and McGeer’s criteria. Trends in antibiotic therapy utilization will be reviewed.
- Responsible for monitoring for effective use of transmission-based precautions and quarantine/isolation where indicated.
- Responsible for monitoring for evidence of cross-contamination between residents and staff.
- Reports infectious disease to Minnesota Department of Health as/where required by MDH.
- Coordinates COVID-19 and influenza vaccine clinics.
- Tracks vaccine status for all residents, including data in PCC Immunization section.
- Assists with contact tracing for COVID-19 and influenza cases (or other diseases as needed).
- Conducts fit-testing of N95 masks for facility staff as indicated.
- Conducts audits of infection control practices, including at a minimum:
- Handwashing
- PPE use; donning and doffing
- Compliance with masking, eye protection for staff, masking for residents in hallways and activities.
