Role Description The Brokerage Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Elk River, MN. This position is responsible for overseeing daily brokerage operations, including coordinating freight movements, managing carrier and customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The Brokerage Manager will negotiate rates, monitor shipments, resolve service issues, and optimize routing and capacity. The role also includes managing documentation, supporting customs-related activities as needed, and collaborating with internal teams to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
The individual will track performance metrics, contribute to budget and revenue goals, and provide leadership to brokerage staff.
Qualifications
- Brokerage and Customs Brokerage skills to manage freight movements, negotiate rates, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Customer Service skills to build strong relationships, respond to inquiries, and resolve service issues effectively.
- Operations Management skills to oversee daily logistics activities, optimize capacity, and improve process efficiency.
- Finance skills to support pricing decisions, analyze costs and margins, and contribute to budget and revenue targets.
- Experience in freight transportation or logistics, preferably with over-dimensional or specialized hauling.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems and common office software; familiarity with industry regulations is an asset.
- Leadership experience or potential to supervise and develop team members in a brokerage or logistics environment.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
