THUMBS UP is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and providing support and resources to people of all ages. Founded in 2014 by community members who lost loved ones to suicide, the organization focuses on embracing individuals who are struggling and reducing stigma around mental health conversations. The organization is committed to educating the community about mental illness, suicide warning signs, and practical ways to help others. Through outreach and awareness initiatives, THUMBS UP works to unite community members in promoting hope, understanding, and ongoing support.

Role Description Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program & Operations Manager, the After School Program & Adultish Site Lead oversees daily operations at the Rogers After School Program location and the Adultish Program, currently held in Elk River. This position plays a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, organized, and supportive environment for program participants, volunteers, and families.

The Site Lead coordinates program logistics, facilitates activities, supports participant engagement, and serves as an on-site resource for volunteers and families. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a passion for fostering positive experiences that support the organization's mission and values.

This is a non-exempt, part‑time position averaging 16–20 hours per week (Monday‑Thursday between the hours of 1:45‑5:15 PM, and Tuesday until 7:45 PM). Compensation is $15-$18 per hour based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Open, prepare, and organize program spaces prior to scheduled activities and events.
  • Provide on‑site leadership, supervision, and support to volunteers and program participants.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment that promotes participant engagement and well‑being.
  • Ensure participant attendance records, sign‑in/sign‑out procedures, and program documentation are completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
  • Facilitate activities, lead group discussions, and encourage meaningful participation.
  • Share educational materials, resources, and support information with participants as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and distribute snacks and refreshments in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Oversee program closing procedures, including participant dismissal, volunteer check‑out, space cleanup, and security of the facility.
  • Monitor program spaces to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Activity Planning & Program Support
  • Collaborate with staff to develop, plan, and implement engaging activities that align with program goals and participant interests.
  • Provide recommendations for program enhancements based on participant and volunteer feedback.
  • Assist with evaluating program effectiveness and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support special projects, events, and initiatives related to program operations and participant engagement.
  • Inventory & Organization
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of program supplies, snacks, educational materials, and other resources.
  • Communicate supply needs in a timely manner to ensure program readiness.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and program spaces to support efficient operations.
  • Ensure materials and resources are accessible, properly stored, and replenished as needed.
  • Communication & Relationship Building
  • Maintain regular communication with the Program & Operations Manager regarding program updates, needs, concerns, and successes.
  • Communicate effectively with volunteers, participants, families, and community partners as needed.
