Registered Nurse :Student Care

Position Title

Registered Nurse for 1:1 Student Care (approximately 7.75 hours per day, student contact days only, 7:45 am - 3:30 pm, must ride transportation with student).

• Monitor the health condition of the student as directed by the LSN and Individual Health Plan.
• Monitor vital signs of the student, as needed.
• Administer medications as ordered by a physician and trained by the LSN; provide prompt medical attention to illnesses and injuries of the student.
• Communicate with staff and parents as appropriate.
• Ensure proper documentation of student medications and treatments to be administered, as prescribed daily and as needed; record and report illnesses and injuries that may arise.
• Assist the student with activities of daily living, including educational needs as appropriate; redirect the student as needed and directed by the classroom teacher.
• Provide student health assessments as required.
• Provide care as outlined in the individual health plan.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

• Requires an A.A., B.S., or M.S. degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) certification by the Minnesota Board of Nursing required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Experience in RN duties, including medication administration, health monitoring, tracheostomy care, tracheostomy suctioning, respiratory status assessment, seizure monitoring, ventilator experience, and G‑tube feedings.
• Skill in health and medical assessment for students’ health needs.

Work is performed under normal office conditions and involves minimal environmental risks or disagreeable conditions. The job includes continuous contact and interaction with the public, staff, outside agencies, district administrators, and others, which may involve some disagreeable human interactions or conflicts.
